I dont know what a tape is,,I think your talking about a taper. I think a 7 on top would be fine but down to a 5 isnt much of a taper. a 7 is 7/8th of an inch and a 5 is 5/8th of a inch,,so its ony a 1/4 th inch different...I think it would look better to taper down to a 3, 3/8ths of an inch. The barber shop i work at doesnt do pointed sideburns (its a military shop ) so I can help you with that part.
