Is a barber in business even if he doesn't own the shop?

Is a barber in business even if he doesn't own the shop and only has a barbers license? Or is he an employee of the shop, thus making only the barber shop owner a business person? If the barber is considered a contractor, then are contractors considered business persons or only the franchise or store/business owner that they are contractually signed to?Is a barber in business even if he doesn't own the shop?
Basically the businessman is the owner, therefore the barber is an employee, if he is not the owner or has an interest in the business financially. If he is not an emloyee and has no ownership then he is just a contractor. The relevance of a franchise is only that ownership of the business may be licensed from the franchisor and is a seperate issue as the owner of the business can be the owner of the franchise as well.

People who work as contractors to a barbers shop are self employed people. They are business people in there own right.

The key is to ask who is contractually bound to whom and by what contract. Is a barber in business even if he doesn't own the shop?
