How do I sound like Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'?

How do I sound like Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'?

I am auditioning for this musical, and wish to sound as much like him in Sweeney Todd as possible. I am singing 'Happy Birthday'.How do I sound like Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'?
My advice would be: Don't.

If you want to make a good performance you should make the part your own, with your own interpretations of the songs. And singing with someone else's voice is never as good as doing it with your own.

But if you still want to sound like him; Watch the movie over and over again, sing along. Get the soundtrack (It's beautiful, by the way) and practice, practice, practice.

Record yourself singing and listen to it, so you can hear what you need to improve.

Good luck :DHow do I sound like Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'?
You don't want to sound like Johnny Depp. He got away with the singing in the film, but he would never get away with it on stage, without the masses of post-production and the luxury of as many takes as he needed to get it right. For an amazing Sweeney, get either the DVD of the original Broadway cast, or the concert version, both starring George Hearn as Sweeney - he is truly incredible. Also, if you're auditioning for Sweeney, why are you singing ';Happy Birthday';? You should really be singing another Sondheim song if you want to be taken seriously.
Ok common misconception. They do not want you to sound like him. There are so many ways to sing songs like those in that movie, and a director will not like it when you try to be a copycat, because how he sings it might not work for your voice, or his interpretation of the play could be different and he might not be looking for an actor that sounds like Johnny Depp. I suggest that you sing like yourself, and try to find a song from a musical that you can sing a few bars of.
wow you would be like amazing but i don't think you could i think you have to do your own voice cause it will sound like you are trying to hard and i don't think it wiuld sound that good cause i think well depending on how old you are like your voice wouldn't fit how you look and so i would just sing with your normal voice ...he made a serial kill awsome
Watch the movie practice the accent listen to the music constantly (from sweeney todd) and sing it like your upset and angry with the whole world.
practice practice practice..i would suggest get the movie and watch it go through parts of the movie trying to sound like sweeney todd until you can match the direct pitch
Watch the movie over and over and then lip synch it.
