Can you get head lice at the barber?

I heard hairdressers check your hair for head lice, but I don't think barbers do. I've been going to the same barber for about 5 years now and haven't caught head lice. I check my hair regularly because I would hate to catch the things.

Do barbers do something to that razor thing so you won't catch it?Can you get head lice at the barber?
Yes you can. If the barber has cut someone's hair that was contaminated with lice, and does not clean it of course the next customer can catch it. As far as checking for head lice, whether is a hairdresser or barber its pretty easy to tell if the person thats in their chair has lice or not specially on mens hair cause its short and they are easier to see!!! There are definetly, solutions that you can put on the razor to kill lice and other germs. Can you get head lice at the barber?
they are suppose to disenfect the blades, you can get lice from any salon or barber if they don't clean their stuff properly. If the place looks dirty don't go there. Other wise you should be ok, everyone in the business knows what it looks like and knows what to do if they see it on someone in their chair
they sterilise thier equipment, and you can catch head lice from anywhere there are people with it, as the lice go from head to head, thats why children get them so often as they are often working with thier heads close together in groups at school. and your barber would notice when he is cutting/combing you hair if you had lice, as they are quite visable.
as a hairdresser and a barber myself i Always check through everyones hair (discreetly) before i start! and yes the clippers/razors are usually sprayed with a special clipper oil with anit-bateria stuff in it, and combs etc. are cleaned in barbicide.

hope this helps!!
yeah remember when i was like 7, had about a million headlice, mum spent about 3 hours in the bath getting em out, until everyone was gone, then the next day i went to the hairdressers and got 1 more in my head from her, after she shaved it clean.
they should be sanatizing everything. if you go to the barber you should see combs and razors in a blue liquid. if he pulls everything out of the drawer i would just leave because you dont know whether or not it was sanitized after it was used on his last client.
It is possible to catch head lice from any establishment that uses tools on your hair, as well as other people. Most hairdressers and barbers sterilize their combs and utensils. You really should not have to worry about catching anything.
It is highly unlikely. I am sure there are prople that go in with lice, but the barbers sanitize their equipment so that if the previous person has something the next person will not get it!
Yes you can if the barber isn't fastidious with his equipment. Yeah they do do something so ppl won't catch it.
